Corporations

Corporations

There are two categories of corporations: the S Corporation and the C Corporation. Most small businesses prefer to avoid the double taxation of the C Corporation format and instead take advantage of the S Corporation's tax liability pass-through. Both types of corporations must pay a yearly $800 fee to the office of the Secretary of States office.

Depending on the business form, you will need a K-1 or 1120 tax form from the previous tax year to establish business ownership. Also, any employees applying for coverage will need to appear on the last two payroll cycles.
